The School of Oceanography is located on the main University of Washington campus in northeast Seattle. The School's facilities are at the foot of 15th Avenue N.E., adjacent to Portage Bay. Major buildings include: Marine Science Building (MSB [I-17]) and its adjacent pier facility, (Old) Oceanography Building (OCE [K-18]), Oceanography Teaching Building (OTB [J-16]) which also houses the Fisheries-Oceanography Library, and the new Ocean Science Building (OCN [I-15]), which was completed in early 2000 and is usually called OSB.

Directions to the School of Oceanography from the Airport
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac) is the nearest airport to UW. UW is situated north of Sea-Tac and east of Interstate 5 (I-5).
- From the airport, drive north on I-5.
- At the N.E. 45th Street exit, turn right (east).
- Follow N.E. 45th St. to 15th Ave. NE., turn right (south).
- After 15th Ave. NE crosses Pacific Avenue, it will curve to the left and become Columbia Way, entering the south campus at Gate 6. The School of Oceanography is located just south of the gatehouse.
Directions for Trucks from I-90 or I-5
- I-90 Westbound: Take I-5 North
- I-5 North or South: Take 520-East exit (Bellevue/Kirkland). This is a right exit from I-5 North and a LEFT exit from I-5 South.
- Take first exit (Montlake Blvd) and go left at light onto Montlake Blvd, heading north. You will want to be in the left lane.
- Cross the Montlake Bridge, then take the first left onto Pacific Ave, westbound.
- Follow Pacific Ave to 15th Ave NE hand turn left (south).
- Follow 15th Ave NE which curves to the left going downhill to become Columbia Way. There is a campus entrance with staff who can provide direction to the Oceanography pier.
