Student Oceanographic Society
The Student Oceanographic Society (SOS) is a student run organization created to promote, inform, and improve both undergraduate and graduate education in oceanography at the University of Washington. Membership is open to any University of Washington student regardless of their academic plan of study. There are no dues or requirements for participation in SOS activities. Through organized events and informal activities, SOS expands the educational experiences of those students interested in all aspects of oceanography.

SOS is located in Room 209 OTB, along with the foosball table. Please feel welcome to use the room anytime to study, hang out, have lunch (there's even a microwave and mini-fridge), etc.
The lounge should be unlocked on normal daytime hours. Feel free to use the lounge to study, have lunch, meet with study groups, play foosball, avoid studying, whatever; use it as you wish! The bookshelves hold several volumes of Limnology and Oceanography, oceanography textbooks, and even some ocean-related fiction, along with the SOS photo album.
Book Policy: please do not remove the books from the SOS lounge. If you do become engrossed in a book and just need to take it home, please let an officer know. Thanks! (And bring it back lest the guilt of your transgression weighs on you for the rest of your days...)
