-Read critically, try to see who is behind the information presented.

-Some links could be in more than one category, so scan them all. E.g. Carbon Emissions calculator is under Energy, but could also have been under air.

There are very many environmental links. We will put up just a few favorites at present (there is nothing more numbing that a list of a thousand websites).

Listenable environment programs

KUOW 94.7 Public Radio: Seattle Weekday with Steve Scher: listen to some very expert people, even your instructor (12/21/01 on Global Warming). Page through using More Stories button. Here is the sorted list of environment shows: http://www.kuow.org/Talkshow_Search.asp?Search_type=Category&Search_Text=6&x=8&y=3

Living on Earth from National Public Radio, an excellent environment program:

http://www.worldwatch.org  The Worldwatch Institute is probably the most famous cataloger of environemental trends... though there are skeptics out there who criticize its accuracy. Not too much on the website (without paying) but the paper publications of WWI are very numerous and seem good. See State of the World 20xx in the library which comes out every year.

SKEPTICISM and CONTROVERSY:

http://www.lomborg.com/   Bjorn Lomborg's recent book, The Skeptical Environmentalist, Cambridge University Press, argues that most aspects of the environment are getting better. He contests the idea that energy is running out, species are disappearing, air and water supplies and quality are worsening. It is a well-written book that seems convincing...but then look more closely. A Google search on 'skeptical environmentalist' will show you, e.g.

http://www.ucsusa.org/environement/lomborg.html   where the Union of Concerned Scientists, an organization heavy with university faculty and researcher expertise, briefly comments.
