This year the field research projects were conducted aboard the R/V Thomas G. Thompson, considered by many to be the best vessel in the UNOLS fleet.

Cruise preparation:
What to bring? Puget Sound in April can be rainy and wet. We recommend
bringing the following items with you on the cruise:
  • Steel-toed rubber sea boots.
  • Foul weather gear (a rain coat is practically mandatory,
    rain pants are great if availabLe)
  • Watch cap ( it is MANDATORY that you have a cover on
    your head in case of abandoning ship.)
  • Work gloves

    A CLOTHES WASHER WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE.
    Pack light but bring:
    spare shirt spare slacks spare shoes spare socks
    sea sickness pills aspirin, medicines spare glasses toothbrush and paste
    binoculars camera, film NO LIQUOR NO CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES
