Largest Airborne Survey of Polar Ice

During the next 6 years Operation Ice Bridge, with Physical Oceanography Professor Seelye Martin as Chief Scientist, will use aircraft to conduct what NASA says is the largest airborne survey ever made of ice at the Earth's polar regions. ECOHAB to develop Toxic Bloom Forecaster

Mouth of the Columbia RiverNOAA and the NSF have awarded over $824K for the first year of the anticipated four-year $2.8mil ECHOHAB project. States UW Oceanography Professor B. Hickey: "This funding will enable us to add that critical feature to predictive HAB [harmful algal bloom] models for the Pacific Northwest region." Read the announcement...
