Research Interests:

Chemical Oceanography and aquatic chemistry, specifically mechanisms controlling the distribution of trace metals, nutrients, gases and radioactive isotopes in oceans, lakes and sediments; export production in the ocean determined using drifting sediment traps and thorium isotopes; suboxic and anoxic environments.

Current projects include nitrogen cycling in the Black Sea and the origin of iron in the equatorial undercurrent in the Pacific.
