Undergraduate Honors Program
Students participate in the 2011 Honors Colloquium
The University of Washington offers three different kinds of honors:
• Interdisciplinary Honors students work closely with the university honors program over their entire time in residence. They take a majority of their general education requirements in Honors-specific courses, complete experiential learning requirements, maintain a portfolio throughout their participation in this curriculum, and are asked to think intentionally about education, knowledge and interdisciplinarity. For more information, visit the UW Honors Program website.
• Departmental Honors programs are offered separately from Interdisciplinary Honors and allow students to explore their majors in greater depth by completing upper-level electives, research, or an extended thesis. Departmental Honors also exposes students to a close working relationship with faculty mentors.
• College Honors are conferred for the completion of both Interdisciplinary Honors and Departmental Honors and allow students to experience both Honors general education and a deeper understanding of their chosen focus.
