Undergraduate Scholarships
Due to our generous donors, Oceanography can offer a broad spectrum of scholarship support
The School of Oceanography offers numerous need-based and merit-based undergraduate scholarships including:
- Need-based awards monetarily equivalent to as much as three quarters of undergraduate in-state tuition
- Book/supply awards of $500 or more
Scholarships for incoming freshmen
Scholarships are awarded to qualified freshmen as applications are received. Because funds are limited, interested students are encouraged to apply as soon as they have been admitted to the University of Washington. Scholarship recipients must enroll in the School of Oceanography and make satisfactory progress towards a degree in Oceanography.
Scholarships for currently enrolled students
The deadline for scholarship applications for current students has passed for the 2012-2013 academic year. The application deadline for 2013-2014 is March 29, 2013. Eligible undergraduates are limited to matriculating Oceanography majors in good academic standing who will be enrolled for at least two quarters during the academic year (summer, autumn, winter, or spring). Students currently receiving scholarships must reapply every year. Awards are based on academic performance as well as financial need, and recipients are expected to maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative UW GPA. Students receiving financial aid should contact the UW Financial Aid Office regarding how winning a scholarship might affect their award. Scholarship winners will be announced by the end of July.
