Introduction
R/V CLIFFORD A. BARNES is a 65 foot vessel owned by the National Science Foundation and operatedunder a Charter Party agreement by the University of Washington's School of Oceanography. It isintended for use primarily in the sheltered waters of Western Washington and British Columbia.
This handbook is intended to provide guidance to embarked personnel on the policies, regulations,procedures, safety and lifesaving precautions, and operational capabilities of the vessel.R/V BARNES and marine operations support personnel exist for the sole purpose of implementingscientific research and student instruction, and it is the intent of the School to be responsive to the needs of the users.
