589 Paleoclimatology: Data, Modeling, and Theory

In Winter 2021 this class will be a merged version of OCEAN 589 (Paleoclimatology: Data, Modeling, and Theory) and OCEAN 554 (Paleoclimate Proxies), jointly taught by Prof. Julian Sachs (OCEAN) and Prof. Eric Steig (ESS).

Evidence for past changes in land and sea surface temperature, in precipitation and atmospheric dynamics, and in ocean circulation: both long and interannual timescales. Provides a critical evaluation of the most commonly applied paleoclimate proxies from the ocean, land, and ice sheets. Offered: jointly with ATM S 589/ESS 589.
