Data Archives for Puget Sound

The following links provide access to digital data produced by the School of Oceanography. These data may be useful to others studying Puget Sound, however, bear in mind that they are research products and should be used accordingly.

Digital Elevation Models

These data combine bathymetry and topography for Western Washington including the Puget Lowland, Puget Sound, and the US portion of the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Data Set Description
PSDEM2000 Combined bathymetry and topography of Western Washington, including the Straits of Juan de Fuca, Puget Sound and Hood Canal. This data was current as of 2000 and has been superseded in the Puget Lowland by the PSDEM2005. However, this dataset covers a larger area and is still useful for large-scale analysis (1:50000).
PSDEM2005 Combined bathymetry and topography of Puget Lowland, including Puget Sound, Hood Canal and Lake Washington. This data was current as of 2005. The data set was derived from high resolution LIDAR and multibeam SONAR wherever these data were available. It is suitable for detailed work at the 1:24000 level.

Project Specific Data

These data are produced by research teams at (or allied with) the School of Oceanography. See the individual project pages for data availability.

Data Set Description
NearPRISM NearPRISM is the branch of the Puget Sound Regional Synthesis Model (PRISM) responsible for nearshore science. Data sets available here include wind and wave records, beach sediment statistics and other nearshore-related data.
