I am a member of the Sediment Dynamics Group; we study the connections between hydrodynamics, sediment transport, and geomorphology. Specifically, we investigate the fate of sediment at the river-ocean interface in diverse environments around the world. We examine the impacts of human alteration (dams, deforestation, dredging, etc) on these environments.

My Master's thesis focused on the impact of the 2011-2014 Elwha River dam removals on sediment transport and kelp mortality around the mouth of the river. This work has now been published.

My Ph.D. work is focused on sediment transport in the Ayeyarwady River delta, Myanmar, and in Tauranga Harbor, New Zealand. I am investigating the processes which keep lowlying, coastal areas above sea level over large (200 kilometers) to small (centimeters) spatial scales. And, I am investigating the impact of mangrove removal (deforestation) in these locations.
