My research focuses on the use of deep learning to reconstruct continuous sea surface height fields from sparse, along-track satellite observations to better understand upper ocean dynamics. For more details on my work check out my website (https://smartin98.github.io/) or this talk (https://tinyurl.com/imsi-talk).

Before coming to the UW, I obtained an MPhys in Physics from the University of Oxford in 2021, where I carried out research on the interaction between tides and convection inside binary stars.
