The UW School of Oceanography invites our alumni to join us for these annual events
Fall: During Convocation, we come together to celebrate the accomplishments of our students, faculty, and staff, and honor the contributions of our donors, who open opportunities for our students through their generosity. At convocation our community reconnects and begins the academic year together.
Autumn and Winter: The Banse Seminar Series is our two quarter long departmental seminar series in honor of Dr. Karl Banse, who was recently named as a AAAS fellow, honored for his continuing work on the ecology of the plankton. Seminars will be held on Wednesdays from 2:30-3:50 in the Ocean Sciences Building, room 425.
Spring: The Hedges Lecture is an evening lecture presented by a visiting scholar, selected by the chemical oceanography graduate students. The Hedges Visiting Scholar Fund provides the UW chemical oceanography graduate students with the opportunity to invite a researcher from outside the university to visit our department, give tutorials, meet with individual students and faculty, and present the lecture. Emeritus faculty are also invited to join us for the annual faculty luncheon held each year in June.
