Ocean Tech ERIS deployment day 2018
ERIS (Exploration and Remote Instrumentation by Students) is a student designed and built cabled observatory that serves as an underwater learning facility at the University of Washington (UW). Each year the students of the combined Ocean Technology Studio courses participate in the annual "Throw It Off The Dock" Day event where the underwater sensors, cabled infrastructure, and data analysis solutions are put to the test. This year the students built six new sensors for continuous monitoring along with a new underwater junction box to extend the power and data communication options for future years. This years succes's will be followed by a long-term deployment of a selected set of student built sensors with commercial sensors to aid in calibration of the datasteam and to provide data for in-class activities into data visualization and analysis.
