Hannah Dawson Wins College of the Environment Research Award

Hannah Dawson has won the Hall Conservation Genetics Research Award from the UW College of the Environment for her project “Characterizing potential drivers of organic matter turnover in changing polar oceans: first measures of RNA viruses in sea ice.” She will use the funding to sequence RNA virus metagenomes from Antarctic sea ice, with a particular focus on viruses that infect eukaryotic primary producers.
