Congratulations to this year's Leo Cup Award recipient, Iris Kern!

We are excited to see how Iris carries forward the vision and inspiration behind the Leo Cup. Learn more about how the Leo Cup Foundation provides opportunities for young scientists to pursue innovative solutions that address the impacts of ocean pollution and plastics. We also welcome you to visit the Leo Cup display in the Ocean Sciences Building to learn more about Leo’s legacy and passion for protecting the ocean.

Congratulations to Jan Newton and Fritz Stahr for their 2022 MTS awards

The Marine Technology Society has given the Lockheed Martin Award for Ocean Science and Engineering to Dr. Jan Newton, and Dr. Fritz Stahr has been designated as an MTS Fellow. Read more here.

Rap Guide to Climate Chaos

You are invited to a performance by Canadian rapper Baba Brinkman on Weds, Nov 16, at 7:30pm in Kane Hall 130 where Brinkman will break down the science, politics, and economics of global warming, following its surprising twists from the carbon cycle to the global energy economy. This performance will be focusing on climate solutions, including ocean carbon dioxide removal. To paraphrase the Notorious BIG: “Mo’ carbon, mo’ problems."
