Virtual Holiday Events
It is not too late to add your Weekend of Giving content to our word cloud. Thank you to everyone who made an extra effort this past week to be a good friend and community member.
Time is running out to sign up for our two virtual holiday parties. All the materials you will need to participate in the events will be mailed to you, or you can come to UW this Friday to pick up packets. It's fun and it's FREE to participate.
The first party is the Ugly Sweater Cookie Decorating Party. Make your own cookies, or order our easy-to-assemble packets. Friday, December 11, 4:30 p.m. Click for more information.
The second event is our "Watch Elf" movie night complete with packets of the major food groups; candy, candy canes, candy corn, and syrup. Don't miss out! Thursday, December 17, 7-9 p.m. Sign up here.
Afloat: Work/Life Balance
Each week we highlight some of the personal accomplishments submitted by your fellow oceanographers. This week we are congratulating Parker MacCready (faculty), who managed to keep doing workouts on his own during Covid instead of going to the gym. He even welded a pull-up bar that is now installed in his workshop. If you'd like to be highlighted for a personal accomplishment, please email Michelle Townsend at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As we adjust to a difficult new normal, how to help ourselves and others can be unclear. Here’s a resource provided by the UW that may be of help: Working during COVID-19/Caring for self and family/Self care.
