DEI Open Meeting with Students
Graduate and Undergraduate Students!
You're invited to attend an open meeting with the School of Oceanography Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. Student representatives from the DEI committee will be updating you on the current and planned actions of the DEI committee, as well as soliciting feedback from the community on high priority actions for the future.
- When: Monday, March 8th, 2pm
- Where: https://washington.zoom.us/j/93287550748
If you want to join Race Talk this quarter, we'd still love to have you! As usual, we are meeting every other Monday; the last Race Talk of Winter Quarter will be 8 March at 11 a.m. You can register at this link and you can sign up for a book to read this quarter that sounds interesting to you. Most of the groups set up a reading calendar so you should be able to jump right in. As a reminder, all of these books are available from the UW Library.
Afloat: Work/Life Balance
Our very last Afloat Challenge is to share your art with the ocean community—either your favorite piece or something you've made yourself. Email these pieces of art to firstname.lastname@example.org or post them on Instagram and tag @uwoceanography or #uwoceanography. One random individual from all the entries will win a nifty little piece of art! It's gonna be super cute, so submit your entry today! The deadline is 5 March.
The Afloat Team has thoughoughly enjoyed trying to uplift our spirits with challenges, events and prizes during this last year. Thank you for all those who participated. We are looking forward to gathering and celebrating in person as soon as possible.
As we adjust to a difficult new normal, how to help ourselves and others can be unclear. Here’s a resource provided by the UW that may be of help: Working during COVID-19/Caring for self and family/Self care.
