There will be a Town Hall meeting on Monday, June 8 at 4:00 pm to discuss inequity and violence perpetrated towards Black People. Please register in advance for this Zoom meeting. The information about this meeting is in its own email, but I have copied that email below to ensure that we all see it.
You can send me an anonymous email if you have something on your mind. Your UWnetID will be scrubbed. https://www.ocean.washington.edu/directorEmail
Members of our community have already started sharing petitions, information about protests, and resources for learning more about systematic racism in the slack, and there are many more resources out there. It’s important that we don’t lose sight of this moment or wait for “business as usual” to come back. Let’s learn about the demands of protesters and how we can support them.
We will not hold a challenge this week because we don’t want to distract you from the police brutality that is on all of our minds. We want our community to focus instead on processing these events and taking action. What can you do within yourself, in your communities, and in the broader public sphere to stand with black lives and against police brutality?
The next installment of Anna’s weekly check ins will be Thursday 6/11 at 11 am. This check in will be for any members of the community who want to come. It’ll be a place to grieve, think, and process together. https://washington.zoom.us/j/95889833751
